WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Miss Fletcher's Wedding
With every appointment of quiet elegance in her beautiful
home at 814 Jefferson Ave. Miss Grace
Fletcher will be married this evening to Charles B. King , son of the late Gen.
John King, Ninth
United States Infantry.
The ceremony will be solemnized at 9 o'clock in the reception room, which has
been charmingly
arranged with American Beauty Roses , with Rev. Mr. Grant of New York and Rev.
Mr. Barr, of
this city officiating.
The bridal gown will be a lovely one of white lace, with an under robe of white
silk, its rich simplicity
unrelieved by ornaments. A long tulle veil, fastened to the hair with a spray of
orange blossoms
and a shower bouquet of lilies of the valley, will complete the costume.
White silk muslin will be
worn by Miss Anne Goodwin, who will be Miss Fletcher's one attendant. Mr .
Howell of Cleveland,
will act as the best man.
An informal reception will follow the ceremony , in which only relatives and
very intimate friends
have been bidden.
Among several guests from a distance who have arrived are, Mr. and Mrs. Howell
of Cleveland,
Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin of Portland Me. , Mrs. Smith of Woonsocket Mass. and Mr.
and Mrs.
Rathbone of Boston.
Miss Fletcher is the daughter of the late Charles Fletcher , and is well known
not only in the
exclusive social set, but as the ministering angel to hundreds of poor and
needy. Her philanthropic
work extending far and near, and making her well beloved.
The wedding tour which the bridal couple have planned , will take them on an
automobile trip through
New York State during the month of October.

Pitcher Siever and His Bride
Cupid has played havoc with the members of the Detroit ball
team the past season, and the last
to surrender is pitcher Edward Tillman Siever , who will be married to Miss
Shella Hardie this
evening at 8 o'clock, by Bishop Foley, at the Episcopal residence on Washington
Ave.
The bride will wear her traveling gown of pale gray cloth, with hat to match ,
and will carry a
bouquet of bride roses . She will be attended by Miss Gertrude Schill, gowned in
white
muslin. Dewitt C Meade will act as the best man . At 9 o'clock a reception will
be held at the
home of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Hardie , 171 Orchard Street.
The bridal
couple will be leaving at midnight for a trip to eastern cities.

OBITUARIES
A Retired Machinist
Thomas Flower, of Detroit, died yesterday at the age of 78.
Thomas Flower, a resident of Detroit for more than 50 years, died at 1:30
o'clock Sunday morning
at his residence , 264 Farnsworth Ave.
Mr. Flower was born in Winchester, England , 78 years ago, and came to the
United States and Detroit
in 1849. He learned the machinist's trade in England, and for several years he
was employed by the
Michigan Central railroad , as an
engineer.
In 1852 he started the machine shops, which later made him well known throughout
the city.
In partnership with his two brothers , James and George , both of whom are now
dead.
Mr. Flower retired from business in 1890 , and after a few years the firm
of which he had been the head
dissolved.
Besides a widow , Mr. flower leaves five children : they are:
Thomas Flower , and Mrs. Andrew Beck,
Detroit, George L. Flower, Washington, Mrs. Carrie Cooke, Bessemer Mich. , and
Mrs. Isabelle
Sherriff, Chicago.
The funeral services will be held from the family residence on Wednesday
afternoon, conducted
by Rev. Stephan W. Frisbie of St. James's Episcopal Church, Detroit Lodge No. 2
, F.& A. M. , will
have charge. The remains will be buried at Elmwood.
